Designing for the Coastal Lifestyle

Arnold homeowners dreamed of a deck that mirrored the tranquil, subtle beauty of the Chesapeake Bay. Objective: construct a $39,500 deck that captured a coastal feel, offered superior longevity, and incorporated thoughtful design elements.

We committed to delivering a permanent structure of effortless quality, ready for years of enjoyment.

The Surface of Cool Enduring Quality

Defining the aesthetic started with selecting the main deck surface. We chose Trex Enhance Foggy Wharf, a color perfectly evoking cool, grey coastal mist. This composite decking offers a low-maintenance, splinter-free experience, freeing clients from the time-consuming tasks of sanding or staining.

This choice established an enduring aesthetic, offering a beautiful contrast against green landscaping.

Railing Elevated to Signature Feature

We focused next on perimeter design. The structure features crisp White Vinyl Washington Railing, complemented by the sharp definition of Black Round Aluminum Balusters. This classic combination provides a secure barrier and excellent visual appeal. True highlight rests atop: the 6” TimberTech Castle Gate Drink Top.

Wide, contrasting cap creates a slate-gray surface, offering a convenient spot for setting drinks or plates. We finished structure edges with seamless Royal White PVC Trim for a clean, permanent frame.

Illuminating the Experience

To complete the design, we integrated subtle illumination. Trex Riser Lights were installed along stair risers. Low-voltage LED lights cast a gentle, welcoming glow across steps, significantly improving safety after sundown. Attention to lighting design ensures the deck remains a beautiful, functional space from the afternoon until late evening.
