Pilgrim Deck & Fence undertook a project aimed at transforming a basic, aging deck into a modern, durable outdoor space that combines style and functionality. The original deck was dated and didn’t fully utilize the space’s potential, lacking the appeal and longevity the homeowners desired. The challenge was clear: to build a deck that would withstand the elements while offering a contemporary, clean aesthetic.
From the outset, Pilgrim Deck & Fence collaborated closely with the homeowners to select the ideal materials. Pressure-treated wood provided the sturdy foundation, while Trex composite decking was chosen for its durability, low maintenance, and appealing finish. The white vinyl lattice was added not only for its visual appeal but also to provide extra protection against debris and pests, giving the deck a sleek, finished look. Black metal railings were then installed, offering a striking contrast to the light tones of the decking, while also adding to the deck’s overall strength and safety.
As the project came together, custom stairs were built, leading down to the yard, with recessed LED lights installed along the stair risers. This slight touch enhanced both safety and style, giving the space a modern, welcoming feel, even after dark. The finished result was a well-constructed, contemporary deck that fit seamlessly with the home and landscape.
